Phillips the Geneva Watch Auction: XX Geneva Auction 9 - 10 November 2024
By Wouter van Wijk
Lot 138 Sylvain Pinaud
Sylvain Pinaud is just a great and cool guy. With Indies don't only buy the product but also the watchmaker. Sylvain went to the Morteau School of Watchmaking in France. Many of the watchmakers who went there to school have the kind of Breguet Tradition look and feel. But Pinaud really has a unique flair, which you can see on his movement architecture and finishing. First time one of his pieces to hit the auction block.

Lot 145 AP vintage calendar watch
This Audemars Piguet is a stunning white gold triple calendar rectangular wristwatch with moonphases, made for "A l'Emeraude". The dial of this watch is restored (as well as the movement) and has incredible good looking Breguet numerals. Since there is no AP visible on the dial and the restored condition it might not go for the high mark.

Lot 156 Ludovic Bouillard
Same story as with Sylvain Pinaud. Some guys are just really kind people. When you have seen the movie "Making Time" from 2022, you just know this is a really great guy. And you just want to own such a piece. Besides being a kind guy this is one really talented watchmaker with a true unique way of telling time. Would love it if he would make more different kind of calibers just to witness his greatness. His watches stil don't get the real recognition of the secondary market while they are rare and offer something truly unique.

Lot 191 Breguet empire
Vintage non Type XX Breguet wristwatches from the pre-Chaumet/Daniel Roth era are really rare and beautiful. These Peseux 260 powered watches are stunning with the typical coin edged cases and guilloche dials.

Lot 193 Vacheron 2215 diamond markers
Always have been a huge fan of crazy quirky pieces. I tend to call these marmite; hate it or love it. This 2215 reference made by Vacheron Constantin ticks all of these boxes. The watch is actually bit earlier than the Patek Nautilus. In recent years these pieces have become really expensive. Construction wise they are so well made. Please take note about the diamond markers. Super subtle, and really nice.
Estimate
CHF15,000 - 30,000€16,000-31,900

Lot 195 Rolex Daytona 116520 panna
This is not a rare Daytona. But these panna dials are super cool. If you want a modern Rolex Daytona with incredible vintage vibes: just look no further. I honestly think these piece are very undervalued.
