DESCRIPTION: In 1997, Patek Philippe moved all its production facilities under one roof in Plan-les-Ouates, Geneva. They celebrated the occasion with the release of a collection of limited edition of 2000 pieces of reference 5500 "Pagoda" commemorative watch. 1100 were made in yellow gold, 250 in white gold and 150 in platinum. This example is 1 in just 500 pieces produced in the 18K rose gold variant. It has a very unique rectangular shape with its case band shaped like a 'Pagoda' when seen from the side. Once the Pagoda's production was complete, Patek even went on to destroy the dies used to produce the cases for each reference to ensure this incredible watch remains out of production and as exclusive as intended. The watch was sold accompanied by a silver commemorative coin featuring the iconic sculpture located at the Patek Philippe manufacture in Geneva. Such special efforts are no longer seen in recent years.
